Feed your Thirst, Starve your Wallet

Living very far away from home can make you do stupid things sometimes. Such as buy no-frills Czech brands of canned pineapple with the assumption that it will actually taste like pineapple. (It would be kind to say it tasted pineapple-esque.)

Or, on a Sunday night, too lazy and cranky to want to cook, when picking up a take-away pizza, getting the great idea to buy a 2 litre bottle of soda from a local restaurant, since you've none in the house and the closest open supermarket is a ten-minute walk away. And even more stupid, actually buying the damn thing — at the cost of 120 Kc (US $4.30). Yes, that's right: my soda actually cost more than a whole vegetarian pizza pie (99 Kc / US $3.54).

You can be sure I'm drinking every damn drop. And never buying one outside of a supermarket again.

The first lesson of travelling: never EVER convert back into your currency of origin unless you enjoy heart palpitations and high blood pressure!
