Thanks to the wonders of movie subtitling, today I learned that in Czech, the world will not be ending with a "fňuk" (whimper), but a "prásk" (bang).
What other language sounds do things make in your country's language?
Posted by wildsoda at November 10, 2003 09:51 PMWow, tough crowd.
Posted by: wildsoda at November 12, 2003 07:11 PMBadumchish.
Posted by: mig at November 13, 2003 11:05 AMIs that German for "the sound of silence"?
Posted by: wildsoda at November 13, 2003 11:21 AMOnomatopoetish for a rimshot.
Posted by: mig at November 13, 2003 02:38 PMMaybe I should have put a smiley after my last comment. Another joke dies in the vacuum of cyberspace...
;-)
Posted by: wildsoda at November 13, 2003 06:09 PMThat's the problem with comments, they evoke that vacuum.
In German comic books, people go "Chchchch" when they snore.
Posted by: mig at November 13, 2003 06:56 PMWell, "pang" is "bang" and instead of saying "oink oink" a pig goes "nöff nöff" in Swedish...
Posted by: francis s. at November 13, 2003 06:59 PMIn Austria, "bang" is "peng".
A rooster crows "kikeriki".
Pigs go "gruntz gruntz".
And the cow says "muh", pronounced "moo".
