Everyone else says (by the look of it): we're celebrating by not doing much with blogs.

We went out into a field and shot off some kid-safe fireworks, if there can be such a thing as kid-safe fireworks. Roman candles shooting foofy balls of fire not very far into the sky. A little ceremonial champagne.

But for most folk, it's about the same here as where you are, I figure. Parties, fireworks, public performances, public drunkenness, and the goat sacrifice. After people have drunk the goat's blood and begged the god Szcx'zautztzaachqqkura!wz to return the sun to its place in the heavens, it's pretty much bedtime for everyone but the high priests. The next day, long lie-ins and headaches all around.

Pretty close, except here he's called Schcx'zautztzaachqqkura?wsch.
Also we had fondue.

We drove to a party, waited in front of the entrance, watched two kids going in, four coming out within half an hour, drove home, had a cocktail nearby, drank Prosecco at home, went up on the roof garden, watched the fireworks and then I went home.

I think I should drive to Serbia next week - they have Christmas this week and New Year's is on the 13th. Maybe I should give 2005 another try.

Happy New Year.

Happy new year to you.
From a little prince not quite like the others (cfr. my blog).

New Year's Eve in Norway:

It can get pretty wild. These folks don't think about personal safety. They just really like the "big ka-boom"! It sounded like a war. The fireworks they use arethe professional sort that we amateurs are not allowed to buy in the US. Wow.

Great blog! happy to meet other expats!
