I have just turned off the BBC for the first time today and replaced it with random picks from my itunes library
the sun is now shining from an almost blue sky with only a few tiny clouds remaining as if for contrast
this morning I was made fully awake by a client calling me from Germany to ask if I was okay
I was just having my first cup of tea in the kitchen of a quiet house in south west London
since then I have done nothing but follow the news coverage on TV and on the internet and reassure people all over the world that, yes I was in London, but no I wasn't hurt
the lack of new information and images led to a narcotic two-step-forward-one-step-back-loop of television news
originally I was going to work on my newest music promo today, a very bouncy and cheerful video entirely filmed inside trains and busses around the world
yesterday afternoon I had filmed the last bit of footage for it on the circle and district line and the number 37 bus
for the past two weekends i have enjoyed the two extremes of english outdoor events: glastonbury and wimbledon
not just two places on the map
but names that stand for whole concepts of living, priorities, target groups
between the mud and the manicured lawn, between strawberries and magic mushrooms, between a tent and the royal box, between bloc party and tim henman, between bandanas and panama hats, these events don't have anything in common apart from being quintessentially english
only they both depend on the weather
but that couldn't be more english either
